Donning pearl-trimmed glasses, a pearly brooch and your grandmother’s quilted robe, she exudes dreamy innocence and tradition. The only thing that stands in contrast are the words of her song, which claim that she never thought she would fall in love or want things a “typical girl” would want.  Switch to her crawling into her pink, silken sheets and entering an even more fanatical world with pink underwear-clad, pompom-ed dancers and walls swathed in the same pink silk. Queue Parx’s entrance, looking like the queen with her pink pantsuit, bedazzled clear cape, and a staff topped with a huge pink marble. Tayla’s discovery that she’s just a traditional girl that likes diamonds, pearls, slow dancin’, and romancin’ closes out the video, full of cutesie, badass self-love only she can convey.  Parx dropped the video last night to a colorful crowd of fans at The Microsoft Lounge in LA. The event titled The Tayla Parx Pop Up Experience not only featured her video’s screening, but also showcased her performing in a fully immersive installation that merged digital tech via a video wall and textural staging which reflected her Candyland aesthetic, in fact an entire bar of sweets lined the walls of another installation mimicking the iconic [beauty school dropout](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0TOxhzAm7fY) on heavy doses of rococo kitsch. * * * Photos by Derek Perlman
