Alain Mikli and Alexandre Vauthier Celebrate Sunglasses Line, Party in New York City
Retro meets renegade with the new collab between French eye-wear house Alain Mikli and hometown haute couture designer, Alexandre Vauthier. Mikli creative director Giampiero Tagliaferri describes the collection as “quintessential Parisian” and celebrated the occasion with an '80s themed party last night (April 5) at Penthouse on Rivington in New York City with a guest list including singer Rita Ora, super models Joan Smalls and Lily Aldridge and Glossier founder Emily Weiss.
Inspired by the romantic Alexandre Vauthier runway and an array of famous fashion photographers, notably Helmut Newton and Guy Bourdin, the collaboration seeks to capture the modern Parisian woman in her power and her sensuality. Vauthier explains, “Giampiero understood this perfectly and together we chose these styles that took distinctive details of my couture collection and interpreted them.”
Likewise, Tagliaferri had this to say: “We combined Mikli’s distinctive and provocative approach to design with my powerful vision of a sexy yet sophisticated woman. The fierce styling of both brands exudes strength, power and femininity making this collaboration a perfect fit.”
The future’s never looked so bright. Shades are a must. The collection is available for pre-sale at Barneys.com, Alain Mikli NYC, and Alain Mikli Paris Boutiques.
