Their new single Semester off their upcoming The Strawberry EP, is a fast favorite. Vocalist and guitarist Ben Grey describes the track poetically explaining, “Most of us have whole periods of our lives that are defined by one person. And when that person leaves, returning to your normal life feels strange. Almost as if the world moved on behind your back.” About the direction of the video Ben Gray says, “We realized that Dear Boy had never made a performance video... And so when Sam approached us about working together, it was not lost on us that we were talking about doing one with the person who essentially created the performance video. We shot it during one afternoon at our friend's art gallery, Noh/Wave in Downtown Los Angeles, against some beautiful Aaron Westerberg paintings, in 100 degree heat... it was sweaty and gnarly and special and we'll never forget it.” Strawberry was produced on their label Easy Hell and Burnside/The Orchard. As the band started as four friends, they feature collabs with longtime buddies Day Wave, Hazel English and Patrick Spurgeon of Rogue Wave. Strawberry will be released March 1, produced by Dear Boy and mixed by Tony Hoffer. * * * Photographed by Casey Curry
