Los Angeles based, all girl rock band, Deap Vally, is at it again with last week’s release of their acoustic EP FEMEJISM (Unplugged). Lindsey Troy and Julie Edwards are the brassy duo behind Deap Vally and believe it or not, they met at a crochet class. Drummer Edwards has said in the past she wanted to prove something fundamental to herself about women being able to “do it on their own” and she found that idea corresponded with meeting singer/guitarist Troy. Their new unplugged EP features stripped down interpretations from last year’s _FEMEJISM,_ which consisted of a much heavier, grunge-rock feel. “We made this unplugged EP as an homage to the 90's,” the duo tells me. “The days of MTV unplugged.” Deap Vally is currently touring with Blondie and Garbage which they tell me, “is a total dream-come-true” and will be playing Reading and Leeds Festival in the UK next month. Check out Deap Vally’s favorite single on their unplugged E.P., “Turn it Off.” It’’ll provide you with a melancholy-dreamy feel that we know doesn’t sound delicious but we promise…it is.   * * * Written by: Eva Barragan
