"To me, photography is the simultaneous recognition, in a fraction of a second, of the significance of an event."

Henri Cartier-Bresson, The Decisive Moment

High-profile 6x6 photography prints are available for only $100 for five days only at the #MagnumSquare photography sale through 6pm EST on June 10. In this square print project, artists apply Henri Cartier-Bresson's idea of the Decisive Moment to their work, creating a larger conversation about his influence on contemporary photography. Each image has the text the photographer has given about how Henri Cartier-Bresson's idea of the Decisive Moment manifests in their work.

Says Magnum of the collection: "The works included in the Square Print sale are intended to spark debate around the meaning of the decisive moment. What goes through a photographer’s mind when capturing a shot? What are the moral or ethical implications in the quest to find the decisive moment? What part does the unconscious play? Is the realisation of a decisive moment always in the present, or can that come later? Is there even such a thing as the decisive moment?"

The prints are available at We're coveting Robert Capa's portrait of Picasso and Thomas Hoepker's shot of Muhammad Ali.
