Fashion Week is taking over every major city this month and this week it's Milan. Alessandro Michele, Creative Director of Gucci, had his presentation for Spring/Summer 2018 and it’s filled with pop culture references. Flaunt attended the Gucci SS ’18 show and we concur: Alessandro is bringing the '80s back. Feathered hair, aviator glasses, layered “costume” jewelry, oversized bows, shoulder pads, and nylon tracksuits dominated the blue-hued catwalk. The nostalgic allusions to the '80s era has all of us singing Madonna’s hit "Material Girl." While the glittery pop attributes ruled the runway, Alessandro incorporated cultural references as done in the past. Chinese knotting clasped the clothes of a few looks and were styled with an Asian conical hat. It’s uncertain whether or not the '80s will make a comeback in full swing, but Gucci is embracing it head on, so get those shoulder padded blazers and neon tracksuits out of hiding.
